Biography

Anastasia Khasiani is a medical laboratory scientist working at the Haematology laboratory’s

Haemostasis section of Kenyatta National Hospital in Nairobi, Kenya. She is passionate about

coagulation testing and enjoys sharing knowledge in this field of haemostasis through training students

and staff within Kenyatta N. Hospital and outside, contributing to research, sharing knowledge with peers

in other parts of the world. She has been a volunteer to the Kenya Haemophilia Association (KHA) since

  1. She is the deputy secretary and a medical representative in the KHA executive committee. She is a

member of the medical advisory committee of the KHA.

She has a Bachelor of Science in Medical Laboratory Sciences and is currently conducting her research

project for the award of MSc. In Haematology and Blood Transfusion Sciences at Jomo Kenyatta

University of Agriculture and Technology. She is a member of the International Society for Thrombosis

and Haemostasis, Kenya Society for Thrombosis and Haemostasis and a professional member of the WFH

Global community.

She is a recipient of the WFH-IHTC fellowship that was awarded in 2014 and got trained at the Oxford

Haemophilia and Thrombosis Centre, Oxford. United Kingdom in 2015. As a World Federation of

Haemophilia volunteer trainer, she has trained laboratory scientists in Ethiopia, Ghana, Malawi and her

own country Kenya (in Eldoret, Mombasa and Murang’a) on laboratory diagnosis of hemophilia.

Finally, she supports the education and healthcare costs of two boys living with haemophilia from poor

backgrounds to give them a better chance at life and give their families hope for a better tomorrow.
